Diploma Programme Facilitator

Born in downtown Detroit, Anna Fleury spent most of her formative years in the Metro area, but also traveled extensively around the US, Canada, and France with her family via camping and sailing, instilling great curiosity about the world. As the daughter of socially conscious public school teachers, Ms. Fleury grew up believing that everyone should try to improve our world, and the first step toward doing that is through learning about it. Thus she naturally fell into teaching as a way of both giving back and helping others learn and become passionate about the world beyond.

Ms. Fleury began teaching in 2001 at the International Academy in Bloomfield Hills and White Lake. She has also taught in Kenya, Costa Rica, and China. In addition to teaching IB English and TOK, she also enjoys teaching and producing Speech, Theatre, and Film and has been the EE Coordinator, EE Mentor, and IB Coordinator throughout her career. She also serves as an IB Examiner.

Ms. Fleury believes the most important aspect of any education, but especially IB, is International Mindedness - an awareness of the intricate and myriad connections we all have as well as empathy for all humanity.
